Circles: Security and Military reforms workshop

The workshop on Security and military reforms started in Khartoum, today to discuss the final phase of the ongoing political process in Sudan since the signing of the framework agreement last December.
Recommendations of a number of workshops will be included in the final political agreement drafted by the joint military and civilian committee. Today’s workshop which will continue until next Wednesday is scheduled to come up with a road map whose recommendations contribute to reform issues and arrangements in the security and regular sectors.
Addressing the workshop today, the President of TSC General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan said the country’s army will be brought under the leadership of a new civilian government.
Burhan said his country will build a military force that will not intervene in politics and will be trusted by the Sudanese people in building a modern and democratic state.
The deputy of the President of TSC, General Mohammed Hamdan Daglo while addressing the workshop said the making of security and military reforms is not a political activity, it is a patriotic and national work engaged with the supreme goals.
Meanwhile UNITAMS head Volker Perthes, addressing the workshop, seemed to be optimistic of the success of the framework agreement. He called on non-signatory political parties to join the framework agreement for the sake of the country.
