The family
In its periodic forum at its premises in the suburb of Al-Juraif West, Rashid Diab Center for the Arts, sponsored by the Kenana Sugar Company Ltd., hosted Dr. Al-Sadiq Muhammad Abdel-Halim, to talk about “the entity of the family”, while the session was moderated by Ms. Israa Babiker, in the presence of a considerable number of interested persons.
Dr. Al-Sadiq Muhammad Abdel-Halim commenced his talk by saying that the family constitutes and the nucleus, citing types of families such extended and nuclear family, in addition to the advantages of each and the upbringing of children within these families.
Dr. Abdel-Halim said that love is not a basic seed for the formation of a family, adding that love should necessarily be limited to love for God, the country and parents, pointing out love-based marriage tend to fail by 77%, according to studies in the Arab world, asking in this regard, a set of questions as to is there a love relationship in the Islamic religion, explaining that love relationships contradicts social standards in Sudan, as well as customs and traditions.
Dr. Al-Sadiq stated that the selection of the husband must be based on scientific foundations that align with well-known life experiences, citing in this regard the experience of marriage in the State of Malaysia, describing it as a successful marital experience. The so-called intellectual alienation.
Dr. Al-Sadiq also shed light on the economic problems, which, according to him, made many young people abstain from marriage, and pointed out that this problem cast a shadow on families and greatly increased the number of divorce cases in Sudan.
He believes that there is a rate of “5-6” divorce cases per hour, according to statistics issued by the Sudanese Judicial Authority, which among every three married women there is a divorcee. He attributed the key reasons for divorce to infidelity and impotence.. He urged married couples to bear with each to solve problems and overcome difficulties, in addition to maintaining their privacy before their children.
On the other hand, Dr. Al-Saq Muhammad talked about the psychological effects of divorce on women: depression, sadness, and fear for the future, unacceptance by the family and society and exposure to sexual harassment. As for the psychological effects of divorce on children are sleep disturbances and rebellion, especially in adolescence, emotional deprivation and insecurity.
