Gezira Scheme Officials Receive FAO Delegation

Within its touring programmes to the wheat cultivating states, a delegation from FAO visited Gezira Scheme where they were received by the Director of Agriculture Administration in Gezira Scheme, Eng. Ibrahim Mustafa in the presence of top officials in Gezira Scheme, researchers and scientists of wheat agriculture.

The visit comes to inspect the experience of BADEA funding through FAO to wheat cash crop in Gezira Scheme through providing Urea fertilizer in this season and to make sure of distributing it to the farmers along with the expected production.

The FAO delegation also visited that wheat cultivated areas which is promising this season, besides inspecting the warehouses in Maringan to make sure that its can receive more storage in the next season, considering the  ongoing consequences of the Russian/Ukrainian war and its impact on food security globally.

It is worth noting that an agreement will be signed later on between FAO and Agricultural Research Corporation on Technical Support to Gezira Scheme.
