Circles: Who Is Authorized to Evaluate Juba Peace Agreement

Within the framework of final phase of political process in Sudan and in accordance with the framework agreement, a workshop of evaluating the Juba Peace Agreement (JPA) was launched in Khartoum with the participation of a number of signatories to the framework agreement.

While addressing the workshop Volker Perutz said:” The aim of this workshop is not to amend, cancel or denounce the Juba Peace Agreementو but to focus on exploring drivers of conflict and revitalized it while safeguarding its gains”.

Neither Volker nor the signatory forces have the right to evaluate the JPA.  Those who are authorized to evaluate Juba Peace Agreement are the real stakeholders who signed in cooperation with the South Sudan mediation.

Most of the signatories of the JPA rejected the workshop of evaluation called by Volker Perutz, the facilitator, that is why Juba invites the signatories of the JPA along with the guarantors to workshop that will take place in Juba mid -February to revise and evaluate the JPA, and then take the appropriate evaluation with the consent of the concerned parties.

Some of the political powers require making essential amendments n the agreement by cancelling what is known about the tracks and keeping Darfur, the two regions, and security arrangements, some of the political powers require cancelation of quotas.

In my estimation, any prejudice or violation of the JPA would threaten national security and put the country back into the war zone, rather, we must search for optimal formulas to complete the peace in Juba by including Abul Aziz Al-Hilo, Abdul Wahid Mohmmed Nour and  all those who were not involved in the ongoing peace process as soon as possible, to achieve, peace, security and full stability in our homeland.
