Al-Dhafiri commends depth and firmness of Kuwaiti-Sudanese relations
Ambassador of Kuwait to Sudan, Dr Fahd Al-Dhafiri, lauded depth and strength of his country’s relations with Sudan, expressing appreciation for Sudan and its people for contributing to building of Kuwait’s renaissance.
This came during a celebration held Sunday in Khartoum for commemorating the 62nd anniversary of Kuwait National Day and the 32nd anniversary of liberation.
Ambassador Al-Dhafiri said that his country policy remained balanced and unchanged and that it based on respect of international conventions and the international law , non-intervention in domestic affairs of other countries and establishment of close relations with brotherly and friendly country in various fields in addition to its constant endeavors to achieve security and peace in the world.
The Kuwaiti ambassador stated that his country blessed since the first moment signing of the Framework Agreement by the components of the transitional period in Sudan on the fifth of last December and considered it a step towards a comprehensive political settlement restoring Sudan to the international community and that Kuwait has expressed its supportive stance to the International Trilateral Mechanism in facilitating dialogue between parties to the transitional period for achieving security, stability and peace in Sudan.
He affirmed readiness of Kuwait to provide assistance and loans to Sudan to boost its economy.
On development support provided by Kuwait to Sudan, the ambassador indicated that the first projects of the Kuwait Fund for Economic Development were in Sudan, and the last of which was the Kuwaiti Zain Telecom Company’s announcement of pumping $800 million for its investments in Sudan during the next five years, in addition to that the Public Authority for Investment expressed during visit of the acting Prime Minister Osman Hussein to Kuwait early last November desire to explore new investment opportunities in Sudan, adding that the visit also discussed development of investment relations and the removal of obstacles obstructing entry of Kuwaiti investments into Sudan.
On humanitarian context, Al-Dhafiri said, during the crisis of torrential rains and floods last September, the State of Kuwait staged an air bridge to provide relief to the affected Sudanese people.
For his part, Minister of Education and representative of government of Sudan in the celebration, Mahmoud Sir Al-Khatim Al-Houri, said that Sudan is one of the first countries to establish relations with the State of Kuwait, which witnessed remarkable development.
He pointed out that the State of Kuwait contributed to laying the basic infrastructures of the Sudanese economy in many successful projects, and also played a major role in charitable work through relief convoys during the crises the country went through and is still providing its services without seeking thanks.
Al-Houri extended his congratulations and blessings to the Kuwaiti government and people and to staff of the embassy in Khartoum on the occasion of the National Day, expressing his wishes to perpetuate the boon of security and development for them.
