Gezira State Governor inaugurates workshop on financing agricultural entrepreneurs

Acting Hovernor of Gezira State Ismail Awadallah Al-Aqeeb has affirmed the importance of the youth empowerment program by opening financing opportunities for graduates to contribute to agricultural production and providing opportunities of work.

This came when the Wali addressed today at University of Gezira, the opening session of the workshop on challenges and solutions for financing agricultural entrepreneurs, organized by Daman Agency for Microfinance in the presence of the Director General of the Ministry of Production and Natural Resources and a number of banking leaders.

The Governor pointed out that agriculture is the main way out for the advancement of the national economy.

He pointed out that efforts are exerted with a foreign company for investment in an area of 12,000 feddans and solving problems of irrigations at Al-Hurga and Nur-Eddin Scheme.

Meanwhile, he announced that the state would adopt the recommendations and outcome of the workshop.

On his part the representative of youth empowering program, Jamal Abdul-Gadir indicated that the program is one of the African Development Bank programs which estimated to cost US$32m in addition to local contribution for integrating youth in agricultural sector, securing food, increasing income and improving livelihood standard.
