Daglo, Abiy Ahmed discuss bilateral relations and developments in Sudan
Vice-President of the Sovereignty Council General Mohamed Hamdan Daglo met at the Republican Palace today with the visiting Ethiopian Prime Minister, Abiy Ahmed, and discussed the strong bilateral relations between Sudan and Ethiopia and means of promoting them further besides current political developments in Sudan and the region.
The Vice-President of the Sovereignty Council welcomed the visit of the Ethiopian Prime Minister to Sudan, stressing that the relations between the two countries are deeply-rooted and strategic, by virtue of the deep fraternal ties, and mutual keenness to strengthen and develop them in a way that achieves the common interests of the two countries.
He stressed the need to enhance cooperation and joint coordination between the two sides in regional and international forums, in addition to working to promote and develop economic, trade and investment relations for the benefit of the two countries and the countries of the region.
The Vice-President of the Sovereignty Council gave a thorough briefing on the current political developments in the country, and the efforts made in light of the framework agreement signed on the fifth of last December, declaring their commitment to implement what was agreed upon to achieve stability in the country, stressing the need for the parties to cooperate in implementing the agreement to bypass the political crisis and complete the transitional period.
For his part, the Ethiopian Prime Minister expressed his great happiness for visiting Sudan, stressing the strong and deep-rooted relations between the two brotherly countries, by virtue of neighborhood and mutual respect that is based on cooperation and joint coordination in all fields, stressing his country’s keenness on the stability of Sudan, which constitutes a basic pillar for achieving development and stability in the region, due to its great potential in all fields, pointing to their aspiration to enhance bilateral cooperation in the economic, trade and investment fields.
He stressed that his country supports the efforts of the Sudanese to reach solutions to the political crisis in Sudan, calling for the need for the Sudanese parties to cooperate with each other and give priority to the national interest to achieve security and stability.
He provided an enlightenment on the positive developments that Ethiopia is witnessing in light of the signed peace process.
