Al-Burhan and Salva Kiir hold talks in Juba

The President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), General Abdel- Fattah Al-Burhan, has praised the efforts undertaken by the Government of South Sudan to enhance security and stability in Sudan.

This came when Al-Burhan met with the President of the Republic of South Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit, today at the Government Secretariat in Juba, in the presence of South Sudanese Foreign Minister Mayiik Ayii Deng and the defense ministers of the two countries.

The President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council stressed the need to activate joint cooperation mechanisms in all fields.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Dafallah Al-Haj Ali, said in a press statement that the meeting discussed issues of mutual concern and ways to support and upgrade the relations between the two countries, noting that the two sides agreed to activate the agreements on the four freedoms, and directed the competent authorities in the two countries to study the details of starting implementation of the agreements.

He pointed out that the two sides agreed on the need to activate the agreements on commercial transactions and cooperation between the central banks of the two countries and to establish a joint force to protect the borders in order to prevent negative activities and secure the borders.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs added that the two parties affirmed during the meeting the ability of Sudan and South Sudan to overcome all internal obstacles and challenges.

He pointed out that the two sides also agreed on the importance of continuing efforts for more cooperation and boosting bilateral relations between the two countries.
