Abdel-Ati Addresses African Conference for Promoting Peace

The Acting Minister of Religious Affairs and Endowments, Abdel-Ati Ahmed Abbas , stressed the need to embody the responsibility of science in realizing the peace process and rejecting the hate speech and extremism.

Abdel-Ati who is leading the Sudanese delegation partaking in a three-day sessions of the African Conference for Promoting Peace in Mauritania, called for restoring the prestige of scholars in countries all over the world to contribute to spreading the values ​​of tolerance, love and familiarity among people.

Addressing the opening session of the Third African Conference for Promoting Peace, which came amid wide international participation under the patronage of the President of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, the minister pointed to the importance of enacting laws and legislations that promote and prevent emergence of extremist currents and limit the spread of intolerance.

Abdel-Ati appreciated the great role played by Sheikh Abdullah bin Bayyah, President of Abu Dhabi Forum for Promoting Peace to spreading a culture of peace and stability among societies in the African continent and other countries of the world.

He extended his thanks to the Mauritanian people for their warm reception and hospitality, and conveyed the greetings of President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC),Gen. Abdel-Fattah Abdel-Rahman Al-Burhan and to His Excellency the President of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani.
