Scientific Research : A major role in building and disseminating knowledge

Scientific research in higher education institutions is a prerequisite for excellence in any field of specialized study in various fields of science, especially natural and applied sciences.

Scientific research began in Sudan since 1900 to improve goods and services, where quality care units were established such as veterinary quarantine, crop control and protection from pests, and a unit to combat pests, epidemics and insects, then an independent unit for agricultural research was established in 1904.

Geological work began in 1905. In 2002, the General Administration of Scientific Research was established, and in 2005, the Ministry established a fund to support scientific research funded by the Ministry of Finance

The Second Scientific Research and Innovation Outcomes Forum was organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research، under the slogan ” Scientific research is the basis of sustainable development”

The forum aims to review the outputs of research projects and technologies for higher education and scientific research institutions and present the outputs of research projects and present them to production bodies and state institutions in the public and private sectors and small and medium industries, in addition to creating a scientific opportunity for communication between senior and small researchers and the academic community in Sudan

The forum was attended by the Minister of Investment and International Cooperation, the representative of the Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers, as well as representatives of diplomatic missions accredited in Khartoum, directors of universities and research institutes, and university professors. In addition to participants from Nigeria, Egypt, South Sudan

The Secretary-General of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant General Muhammad al-Ghali Ali Youssef, affirmed the state’s interest in scientific research, as a pillar of development, pointing to the pioneering role of scientific research in the sustainable development renaissance.

The Lieutenant General Muhammad Al-Ghali Ali Youssef said, while addressing the opening session of the second forum for the outputs of scientific research and innovation, representing a member of the Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant General Ibrahim Jaber Ibrahim

Jaber said that the forum represents a real addition to the efforts of the State to develop the scientific research, expressing his hope that the forum will come out with recommendations that promote development and progress.

Al-Ghaly called for employing the outputs of scientific research in the advancement of Sudan. He stressed the readiness of the Sovereignty Council to adopt the outputs of this forum and translate it into reality.

Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Professor Mohamed Hassan Dahab,indicated that the forum coincided with the country’s celebrations of the independence anniversary and the glorious December Revolution, saying that scientific research is the basis for the progress and prosperity of countries, noting its role in economic development and support for the knowledge economy. Indicating that spending on scientific research brings rapid investment benefits to countries.

He pointed to the tendency of many countries to invest in the field of scientific research, and noted the positive results achieved by many Asian countries as a result of their large spending on scientific research, including Korea and Singapore.

The Minister of Higher Education affirmed his ministry’s interest in scientific research to improve goods and services, saying that the ministry gives top priority to research centers and higher institutes that work in the field of promoting and developing scientific research, stressing that the outputs will be implemented in cooperation with the public and private sectors, renewing his ministry’s keenness to put all its capabilities to develop scientific research in order to benefit from these outputs in the development of societies.
